A group of B-52 Stratofortress bombers from the Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota will arrive at Andersen Air Force Base in mid 2010, in preparation for the crews going to Guam this summer.

The Andersen wing, which is currently conducting a nuclear mission, will focus on enhancing its conventional capabilities to receive the B-52 bombers.

The B-52 Stratofortress is a long-range, subsonic, jet-powered strategic bomber, powered by the prototype YB-52, with eight turbojet engines.

The B-52 deployment will take place following inspection of the wing.

The deployment announcement comes following a flight simulator demonstration for B-52H Stratofortress weapons training in Minot Air Force Base.
