The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has called for talks with China to avert sanctions the country plans to impose on US parties involved in a $6.4bn military deal with Taiwan.

The deal, approved by the US Government, includes orders for 60 Black Hawk helicopters, 114 Patriot missiles and systems from Boeing, United Technologies, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, according to the Financial Times.
