Bombardier Aerospace has approved two next-generation waterborne structural primers from AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings, following extensive tests and trials.
Aerowave 2001, one of the two coatings, is an epoxy corrosion inhibiting primer with a VOC level of less than 250g/l.
Bombardier specifications require the coating to contain some chromate. This coating has been developed with up to 75% less chromate than other currently approved products.
A lower chromate content cuts coating weight by about 20%, resulting in lower operating costs.
