Turkey has barred an Israeli military aircraft from using its airspace in an apparent reaction to Israel’s raid on an aid convoy bound for Gaza.

An Israeli military cargo plane, carrying over 100 officers on their way to Auschwitz, was denied permission to cross Turkish airspace and forced to fly an alternative route.

Turkish officials have since said that it is not a blanket ban, and that it it would not affect commercial flights. Each flight request would be assessed on a case-by-case basis, according to the BBC.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that a ban had been implemented following the 31 May raid, in which nine Turkish citizens on the flotilla were killed.
