Spain has grounded its Eurofighter combat aircraft until it completes an investigation into a possible ejector seat problem.

The Spanish defence ministry took the decision a day after Germany grounded its entire fleet of Eurofighter jets as a precaution, according to AFP.

The UK Royal Air Force has resumed normal operation with its Eurofighter Typhoons after completing an urgent safety modification for the aircraft’s Martin-Baker mk16A ejection seat.

Austria has also resumed Typhoon operations after problems with the ejection seat were resolved by specific pilot training and a simple manual modification to the ejection seat.

The UK, Austria, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Spain suspended Typhoon operations after a Royal Saudi Air Force pilot died ejecting from a Eurofighter at Moron air base in Spain.
