BRS Aerospace has received a contract to integrate its parachute recovery systems on the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) basic training aircraft.

Under the contract, BRS Aerospace will install its high-tech safety system into the fleet of HPT-32 trainers.

The system, which will use solid rocket fuel technology, will return the entire aircraft and pilot safely to the ground when activated in case of an emergency.

BRS Aerospace VP of engineering Frank Hoffmann will visit India with a team of engineers to begin the process of installing the ballistic recovery system on the HPT-32 aircraft.

Once the installation design is complete, Hoffmann will work with Hindustan Aeronautics and the IAF to test and certify the customised whole-airframe parachute system.

Hoffmann said the whole programme is expected to complete in a very short period of time.
