Saab has received a contract from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, for the delivery of 3D models for the Gripen simulators.

The 3D models, which will be generated by the Rapid 3D Mapping system based on aerial images, will give the simulators a highly realistic visualisation model.

Saab head of business development Ulf Hellberg said this was an important milestone that proved that 3D models generated by Rapid 3D Mapping could be used with excellent results for visualisation in simulators.

Rapid 3D Mapping marketing director Magnus Brege said the 3D models provided the customer with a more realistic solution than traditional ways of building visualisation models.
