Iran has successfully test fired an upgraded version of the mid-range surface-to-air Haag missile near Khondab nuclear facilities, senior Iranian military commander Colonel Abolfazl Farmihani has said.

“The objectives of test firing the missile included examining the level of efficacy of military, both in terms of missile and radar capabilities,” he added.

The test was conducted as part of Iran’s efforts to boost its defence capabilities, and as an indication of operational readiness of the Iranian Air Force in defending the country’s airspace.

Iran’s air defence unit had conducted successful tests of different anti-aircraft defence systems, including the anti-cruise Tor-M1 and sophisticated S-200 anti-aircraft missile system last year.
