The South African Air Force (SAAF) has awarded a contract to Aircraft Equipment International Systems (AEI) for the procurement of a 30mm Aden gun and gun pod.
The R2m contract is being acquired as part of the R7.2bn ($104m) Project Winchester and includes a 30mm Aden gun, gun pod equipment, cannon spares and gun pod spares for the BAE Hawk aircraft.
The Aden is carried in a centreline pod on the BAE Hawk mk120 lead-in fighter trainer, which is currently being operated by Combat Flying School at Air Force Base Makhado in Limpopo, South Africa.
