The US Air Force (USAF) will deploy 12 F-15E fighter jets to South Korea next month, US 7th Air Force commander Lieutenant General Jeffrey Remington has said.

“This deployment reaffirms our commitment to the Republic of Korea in providing the right deterrence and firepower to defend the country,” he added.

About 400 airmen from the 494th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron and their fighters will be stationed at a US air base in Gunsan, south-west Seoul.

The four-month deployment will help maintain stability in the region.
