The US Air Force (USAF) has contracted the Bell-Boeing alliance to deliver three new CV-22 Osprey training devices and upgrade an existing device.

Under the $34m order, the team will deliver the systems to three USAF bases in Hurlburt Field, Cannon and Kirtland.

The contract involves an upgrade to a CV-22 cabin part task trainer (CPTT) and two fuselage aircrew / maintenance trainers at Kirtland Air Force Base.

The upgrade will create a full-fuselage cabin operational flight trainer (COFT) and ensure continued concurrency with the aircraft platform.

Boeing Training Systems & Services vice-president Mark McGraw said the new COFTs would be made from the first CV-22 test flight vehicles.

“They, and the upgraded CPTT, include enhancements to provide high-fidelity training in nearly two dozen tasks,” he added.
