Mercury Computer Systems (MCS) has delivered onboard real-time image processing and storage subsystems to support the US Air Force’s (USAF) Gorgon Stare (GS) wide-area persistent surveillance system.

The subsystems, delivered to prime contractor Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), are key components of the surveillance system.

The GS surveillance system is fitted on MQ-9 Reaper unmanned air vehicles to provide unmatched EO/IR persistent surveillance capabilities to the warfighters.

The systems are also used in distributed common ground system (DCGS) enterprise to provide unprecedentedly rapid exploitation and time-sensitive forensic analysis support.

SNC is currently developing the next generation of Gorgon Stare systems for the USAF.
