The Argentine Air Force (AAF) has selected Pratt & Whitney’s (P&W) PT6A-62 engine for the powerplant upgrade of the twin-engine Pucara aircraft programme.
The company will deliver the PT6A-62 engine to Pucara aircraft manufacturer Fabrica Militar de Aviones (FAdeA) for the upgrade programme.

The PT6A turboprop engine offers 500-2,000hp with a high degree of reliability over a wide range of military applications.
The Pucara is a twin-engine ground attack and counter-insurgency (COIN) aircraft, deployed by AAF for air-to-ground attack, intelligence gathering, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
The air force currently operates 30 Pucara aircraft.
