Lockheed Martin has been awarded a contract by the US Air Force (USAF) to provide technical support of the Distributed Mission Operations Center (DMOC) at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, US, in a bid to keep warfighters mission ready at locations around the globe.
Under the contract Lockheed, in partnership with the 705th Combat Training Squadron, will assist DMOC, USAF’s hub for distributed virtual combat training exercises, testing and experimentation, by linking virtual training assets of the US armed forces and coalition partners.

The company will also aid USAF in development of tactics, techniques and procedures for tactical and operational training events.
Vice president of training and engineering services in Lockheed Martin’s Global Training and Logistics business, Jim Weitzel, said: "Integrating live, virtual and constructive elements, the Distributed Mission Operations Center serves as the nucleus for advancing cost-effective training and operational testing."
705th Combat Training Squadron commander lieutenant commander, Doug Horne, said: "Distributed exercises that allow warfighters to practice together and test software real time are becoming increasingly important as missions become more integrated across platforms, services and partner nations."
Mr Horne added: "Linking assets and transporting relevant, accurate and timely simulation data is a key element for operating in today’s environment."

The 705th Squadron is part of 505th Command and Control Wing, which aims to improve warfighter capability through command and control testing, tactics development and training.
