ITT Exelis has received the Agile Cyber Technologies (ACT) contract to perform cyber research and development work in support of the US Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) science and technology (S&T) vision of cyber superiority.

The five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract has a maximum potential value of up to $300m and involves implementation of a wide range of services that cover the development and fielding of cyber solutions to support customer requirements.

More specifically, the company will support rapid research, development, prototyping, demonstration, evaluation and transition of cyber solutions for military programme offices and the Department of Defense (DoD) operational community.

ITT Exelis Advanced Information Systems business vice president David Fastabend said that the company remained committed to provide the right tools and technology to the government, to help support the national security objectives.

”The Exelis team is poised to help solve the government’s toughest cyber security problems through a partnership with AFRL that will benefit both operational customers and the science and technology communities,” Fastabend added.

Exelis is one of three prime contractors to have received an ACT contract from AFRL, which also announced three small prime business contractor awards.

Work will primarily be conducted at the AFRL – Rome Research Site in New York, US, by the Exelis team that includes 16 small businesses, two academic institutions, as well as 13 large companies.

The AFRL serves as an important bridge for transition of advanced scientific and technical solutions for operational communities across the DoD, intelligence agencies and coalition partners.
