Once upgraded, the systems will be able to task DigitalGlobe’s WorldView constellation of earth imaging satellites and quickly download and deliver high-quality commercial panchromatic and eight-band multi-spectral imagery to the operators within minutes of collection.

The combination of DigitalGlobe’s imagery hardware and mobile stations will provide USAF personnel with high-resolution imagery needed for accomplishment of unique operations.

US Air Force Eagle Vision programme source James Clark said the combination of DigitalGlobe’s imagery hardware and mobile stations will provide USAF personnel with high-resolution imagery needed for accomplishment of unique operations.

”It will also enable Eagle Vision systems to be compatible with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s (NGA) commercial high-resolution program," Clark added.

DigitalGlobe Defense & Intelligence business senior vice president and general manager Jeff Kerridge said the contract demonstrates how helpful the company’s unclassified imagery will be to the US government customers.

Eagle Vision is a commercial-of-the-shelf (COTS) deployable ground station designed to process imagery from commercial satellites for intelligence preparation of the battle space, mission planning and rehearsal, predictive battle space awareness, as well as battle damage assessment.

The stations have also delivered planning and mission support to US military during Operations Allied Force, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom since 1994, in addition to supporting the natural disaster relief and humanitarian missions.

Upgrade work will also be carried out jointly with MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates (MDA) and Orbit Logic in early 2013.

The first terminal is expected to become operational by mid 2013.
