Wyle has secured a contract to conduct studies aimed at enhancing the quality and supportability of the US Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) research flight testing programmes.

Awarded by the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC), the $5.8m study contract requires the company to provide AFRL with subject matter expertise, services and solutions for flight test activities enhancement.

Working with subcontractors, Greentree Group and Infoscitex, Wyle will primarily offer flight test integration management for the development of research project specific test plans and decision-level presentations addressing resource, range, training, safety and technical reviews to help increase research test project supportability and interoperability.

The company will carry out comprehensive investigations of AFRL’s research projects requiring flight tests for potential test hazards, and recommend mitigating approaches, procedures and plans.

Wyle will also develop and supply an aviation safety programme involving AFRL’s management, aircrew and support personnel, as well as document and share lessons learned and best practices.

Additional contract responsibilities include the provision of assistance during development, coordination, implementation and operation of flight test areas for research and academic experience and studies.

Contract work is scheduled to be carried out throughout AFRL’s entire enterprise, including at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico, Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, and Rome, New York, US.
