SSA software

Analytical Graphics (AGI) has secured a contract to provide selected capabilities from its space situational awareness (SSA) software suite to the US Air Force’s (USAF) joint space operations center (JSpOC) mission system (JMS) programme.
 
Awarded by the Air Force Space & Missile Systems Center (SMC)/Space Superiority Systems Directorate (SY), the $39m contract is a modification to the General Services Administration (GSA) delivery order received by the company in November 2012.
 
The contract includes an operational software upgrade of selected capabilities from the initial prototype contract, and an engineering services task order to support the future integration, testing and deployment of select SSA software suite capabilities into the JMS programme.
 
The selected SSA software suite commercial products are scheduled to be integrated as part of the JMS programme’s Increment 2 delivery of capabilities.
 
AGI vice-president Travis Langster said, ”We look forward to working closely with the air force and the rest of the JMS team to ensure the success of this critical program and to deliver these urgently needed capabilities to the warfighter quickly and affordably by leveraging commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products.’

Used by the US national security agencies working in the SSA domain since 1994, AGI’s software suite brings proven, accredited, modular software to JMS, which will eventually reduce the programme’s cost and schedule, providing commercially derived contributions to mission capabilities and performance.
 
Compatible with the JMS service-oriented architecture (SOA), the suite is expected to provide mission applications for catalogue maintenance, including orbit determination, observation and manoeuvre processing, sensor calibration and additional mission capabilities critical to the JMS programme.
 
Capable of delivering integrated, net-centric space situational awareness and space command & control (C2) capability, the JSpOC mission system is intended to replace the legacy space defense operations center (SPADOC) system.
 
Work under the contract is scheduled to run through 2018.
