Helisota has secured a contract to provide support for the Latvian National Armed Forces’ Russian-built Mil Mi-17 medium twin-turbine transport helicopters fleet.
 
Under the contract, the company will support the Mi-17 fleet with comprehensive base maintenance services for the next three years, including 100, 200 and 500 flight hours checks, defect rectification, spare parts support and logistics.
 
Helisota CEO Anatolij Legenzov said the contract confirms the trust of European governmental operators in the company’s competence and expertise.
 
Legenzov said, "This is already a second full support agreement with the Latvian National Armed Forces in the course of more than ten years of successful cooperation.

Around four Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters, an export version of the Mil Mi-17, are currently operated by the Latvian Air Force for transport, evacuation, support, in addition to search-and-rescue (SAR) missions.
 
All scheduled maintenance works under the contract are scheduled to be carried out at the company’s main technical base in Kaunas, Lithuania.
 
Designed by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and jointly built by Kazan Helicopter Plant and Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, the Mi-17 is a multi-purpose helicopter primarily used for troop and VIP transport, electronic warfare, reconnaissance and SAR operations by several armed forces worldwide.
