Northrop Grumman has secured a contract from the US Air Force to supply its embedded global positioning/inertial navigation systems (EGI).

The company will supply fibre-optic gyro-based navigation systems to the US Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine and Navy, in addition to international customers, under an indefinite-delivery and indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract.

Northrop will also provide platform integration, modernisation, flight test and technical support, training, depot repair and spares for its EGI.

The contract, valued at up to $200m, allows for ordering equipment and services through December 2018.

The contract consists of foreign sales, including a first order in support of EGI sales to Iraq and Thailand, according to the company.

As part of the contract, Northrop will offer products such as the LN-251 and LN-260 that features fully integrated, tightly coupled GPS inertial design for accuracy, in addition to open and modular architecture for adaptability, while LN-251 is the smallest and lightest navigation-grade EGI in its class.
