The Italian Air Force has awarded a contract to a team of Alenia Aeronautica, Avio and Lockheed Martin to provide technical and logistical support services to its fleet of C-130J airlifters.

Under the €155m ($204m) five-year contract, the team will provide fully integrated services to improve full efficiency and availability of the Italian Air Force’s C-130J fleet.

Alenia will provide spare parts, supply chain management and equipment maintenance, including landing gear, as part of the contract.

The company will also provide the maintenance of air ground equipment (AGE) and engineering support activities, including the C-130J flight simulator based at the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa.

Avio will provide the complete propulsion system, including overhaul and technical / logistical and engineering assistance to the 92 AE2100D3 engines of the C-130J aircraft.

Lockheed, which has designed and built the aircraft, will provide repair components produced in the US and any modifications.
