Boeing has submitted two proposals offering AH-64D Apache and CH-47F Chinook helicopters as entries in the Indian Air Force's attack and heavy-lift helicopter competition.
India intends to acquire 22 attack helicopters and 15 transport helicopters through the competition.
The AH-64D Apache Longbow is the new version of the Apache and a candidate to fulfil the attack helicopter and reconnaissance requirements of numerous armed forces.
The CH-47 Chinook is a heavy-lift high-altitude helicopter that can be deployed on a multitude of missions including military, humanitarian, disaster relief, search and rescue and firefighting missions in all climates and conditions.
Boeing Integrated Defence Systems vice-president and India country head Vivek Lall said that Apache will be a capable and lethal defender of India's troops and assets, while the Chinook will answer many of the country's military and humanitarian needs.
If selected, Boeing will build the Apache helicopters at its rotorcraft facility in Arizona and the Chinook helicopters at its rotorcraft centre in Pennsylvania.
The IAF has not set a date to announce the winning proposals.
