The US Air Force has awarded a contract to SRCTec for the design, delivery and sustenance of counter unmanned aircraft system (UAS) technology, which will aid its Medusa counter-sUAS programme.

The $90m sole-source indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract is valid for five years.

SRCTec general manager Anthony Stewart said: “We are proud to support the airforce Medusa program with critical counter-UAS technology.

“Our delivery and support of these systems will help to keep our warfighters safe and ensure the successful completion of missions.”

The counter-UAS technology provided by SRC will offer accurate detection of low flying and small moving UAS targets.

Additionally, it can identify and classify targets and offer ‘low-cost precision electronic defeat capabilities’.

SRCTec’s technology provided to support the Medusa programme consists of air surveillance radar and a counter-sUAS electronic warfare (EW) system, which features electro-optical and infrared (IR) capabilities.

US Senator Charles E Schumer added: “SRC has proven time and time again that it can provide superior services and products to the United States Government, so it is no surprise that the airforce once again chose them for this important work.

“I will continue to work with SRC to bring more federal work, and more jobs, to Central New York through partnerships like these.”

In October last year, USAF awarded SRC a general services administration (GSA) blanket purchase agreement for intelligence mission data (IMD) support services.

Under the contract, the company provided services for the USAF’s National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC).
