The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) will hold a joint air exercise, starting on 22 October, to foster defence cooperation ties between the two countries.

The week long ‘Eastern Bridge’ exercise will be held at the RAFO base at Thumrait in Oman.

The IAF is expected to deploy its six single-seat Darin-I Jaguars as part of the exercise, while RAFO will deploy its Jaguars and F-16s.

The IAF will also involve two IL-78 MKI air-to-air refueller aircraft for tanking the Jaguars enroute to Oman during the session.

The joint exercise aims to enhance understanding of operational, maintenance and administrative procedures between the two nations’ air forces.
