The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) is planning to conduct massive countrywide air drills this summer, IRIAF lieutenant commander Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh has said.
The military drills will be held before or after the holy month of Ramadan, which starts on 1 August.
The Islamic republic news agency reported the commander as saying that Iran’s air power will be boosted to better defend against possible threats.
The air force will also conduct research to increase its reliance on domestic capabilities in the development of home-made equipment.
The country recently tested an indigenous radar-evading unmanned aerial vehicle with bombing capabilities.
