The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress of a potential foreign military sale of AIM-120C-7 advanced medium range air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM) and contractor logistics support for AH-64D Apache helicopters to Kuwait for $110m and $400m respectively.

Under the sale, Kuwait seeks to receive 60 units of AIM-120C-7 AMRAAM including containers and other related services.

The Raytheon-built AMRAAM has been designed for air-to-air and surface-launch engagements.

"The proposed sale will increase Kuwait’s interoperability with the US and ensures a sustained air-to-air capability for Kuwait’s F/A-18 aircraft."

The weapon's advanced active guidance section provides aircrew with a high degree of combat flexibility and lethality and its mature seeker design allows it to quickly find targets in the most combat challenging environments,  Raytheon said in a statement.

The proposed sale will increase Kuwait’s interoperability with the US and ensures a sustained air-to-air capability for Kuwait’s F/A-18 aircraft.

The Government of Kuwait will also receive sustainment and contractor logistics support for AH-64D Apache helicopters.

The support services include Apache maintainer unit support, depot level support, training devices, helmets, simulators, generators, transportation, wheeled vehicles and organisation equipment, spare and repair parts.

Kuwait also requested for support equipment, tools and test equipment, technical data and publications, personnel training and training equipment, US Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistics support.

Raytheon, Boeing, Longbow Limited, Lockheed Martin and DynCorp International will serve as potential contractors for the sale of AMRAAMs and Apache logistics support.
