Elbit Systems has been awarded a follow-on contract by the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) Procurement Administration, to integrate the F-15 array into the Mission Training Center (MTC), which Elbit Systems is already establishing for the Israeli Air Force (IAF).

The $30m contract, which covers a 15-year period, is an extension of a previous contract awarded in July 2009 through the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) programme – designed to set up an MTC for the IAF’s F-16C/D and F-16I fighter aircraft pilots.
Elbit Systems’ Aerospace Division co-general manager, Yoram Shmueli, said the decision to include the F-15 array in the MTC reflects the IMOD and the IAF’s satisfaction with the significant progress achieved by the company in the establishment of the centre.
"The Mission Training System was developed based upon an understanding of the modern combat doctrines, operating multiple forces, therefore requiring joint-force training of the various forces," said Shmueli.
"We trust that our extensive experience in the training field for air, land and sea, as well as our systemic understanding and vast experience in operating PFI projects, will provide the IMOD with the ultimate solution for training fighter pilots."

By GlobalDataAccording to Elbit, the MTC facilitates training in multiple mission scenarios in various war zones, mirroring the threat environment of each, offering a new training capability which has not yet been available to the IAF.
Powered by two Pratt & Whitney F100 engines, the F-15 Eagle is an all-weather tactical fighter aircraft designed to attain and maintain air superiority during aerial combat missions.
As of January 2011, the IAF had a total of 43 F-15A/B/C/D aircraft in its operational service.
