Indra has secured contracts for the development of two new A400M military transport aircraft simulators for pilot training.
The simulators will train pilots from the German Air Force at Wunstorf Air Base and the French Air Force at the Orleans-Bricy airbase.

The advanced simulator training tool is designed to be able to recreate real-life missions for the 80t A400M military aircraft.
The simulator will be mounted on an exact replica of the cab of the A400M aircraft, which is elevated on the arms of an electrical system that provides motion.
On board, the pilot will be able to find the same flight instrumentation installed on a real aircraft to enable training on complex and high-risk operations.
The entire range of virtual aircraft, vessels and vehicles that appear in the simulation, either as allies or enemies, are also modelled by Indra.

As part of the deal, Indra will carry out the development of the Mission Planner and Scenario Generator, which will prepare missions for the pilots.
The new tool defines the weather conditions during flight, thereby determining if the mission is carried out during the day or night, in addition to establishing the tactical elements of the exercise.
The company is also responsible for developing the Instructor Station, which defines and controls the exercise.
The simulator’s LED-based visual projection system will be developed for the systems delivered to Germany, Spain and France.
Developed by Airbus, the 45.1m-long A400M aircraft has a range of 8,700km and a cruising speed of 900km/h. It is also capable of transporting tanks, helicopters, material and up to 120 personnel.
