The US Air Force has selected AECOM as one of the prime contractors for the $5bn Air Force Contract Augmentation programme (AFCAP IV).

Under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, Aecom will be responsible for offering a full range of base, life, operating and logistical support services to the Air Force and any other US federal entities operating in support of Air Force missions.

The entities will include national command authority, joint or combined US military forces, Nato and multinational forces using US government appropriations.

"We are thrilled to once again be supporting the US government on this critical programme."

Aecom management services group president Randy Wotring said: "We are thrilled to once again be supporting the US government on this critical programme.

"Our company is proud of its long-standing relationship with the US Air Force, and is excited to further strengthen that partnership by providing innovative and effective worldwide contingency solutions as part of our commitment to global resilience and humanitarian relief."

The company will provide its services at multiple locations across the world. Currently, Aecom supports the USAF on five AFCAP III task orders.

AFCAP is a rapid response contingency contract tool for use by US government agencies requiring urgent assistance. For AFCAP IV, the USAF selected eight companies under a six-year contract and it is expected to be completed by 2021.

The USAF recently awarded Amec Foster Wheeler’s joint venture with Fluor, Fluor-AMEC II, with a position on the AFCAP IV programme.
