The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has sent a C17 Globemaster aircraft to Tunisia in order to assist with the government’s response to the terrorist attack in the country.
The aircraft was loaded with medical support equipment and a specialist medical team. In addition, the C17 is also used to transport injured people back to the UK.
Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said: "It’s right that we do all we can to help those affected by this terrible attack on innocent families.
"Sending this C17 aircraft will help to ensure the injured return home at the earliest opportunity."
The Boeing C-17 Globemaster military airlift aircraft is a high-wing, four-engine, T-tailed military transport vehicle capable of carrying heavy payloads.
Recently, at least 37 people have been killed in Tunisia after a gunman opened fire on a beach in front of hotels in the resort of Sousse.
The dead included tourists from the UK, Germany, Ireland and Belgium, as well as Tunisians.
There were reports claiming the death of 30 UK citizens, though only 18 have so far been confirmed among the dead, BBC reported.
Meanwhile, Tunisian authorities have arrested a number of suspects linked to the gunman, who reportedly had connections with the jihadist group Islamic State (IS).
The C17 transport plane has so far brought four seriously injured British tourists back home.
