The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress of the potential $785m foreign military sale of munitions, sustainment, and support to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Under the sale, UAE seeks to receive 7,700 GBU-10 guidance kits with 7,700 Mk-84/BLU-117 bombs, and 5,940 GBU-12 guidance kits with 5,940 Mk-82/BLU-111 bombs.
The potential sale will also cover 500 GBU-31V1 guidance kits with 500 Mk-84/BLU- 117 bombs, 500 GBU-31V3 guidance kits with 500 BLU-109 bombs, and 14,640 FMU-152 fuses.
The Government of the UAE has also requested for non-MDE munitions items.
The procurement of additional precision guided munitions will help the UAE to meet current and future threats, as well as to remain an active member of the Operation Inherent Resolve coalition that is working to defeat ISIS.
The UAE continues to provide host-nation support of vital US forces stationed at Al Dhafra air base.
The munitions will be sourced through procurement and the contractor will be determined during contract negotiations.
In February this year, UAE requested for a potential FMS of AN/AAQ-24(V) large aircraft infrared countermeasures (LAIRCM) systems from the US.
The sale included eight AN/AAQ-24(V) LAIRCM systems for The Boeing-built C-17 Globemaster III aircraft; three guardian laser transmitter assemblies (GLTA), six ultra-violet missile warning system (UVMWS) sensors AN/AAR-54, and one LAIRCM system processor replacement (LSPR).
