Raytheon has received a $393m contract to provide continuous mission support for the US Air Force’s (USAF) distributed common ground system (DCGS).
Under the latest contract, the company will continue to sustain, maintain the operational availability of platforms and legacy systems that produce actionable intelligence for the Air Force.
These systems are capable of collecting, processing, analysing and disseminating data collected by sensors aboard the USAF’s ISR platforms such as U-2, RQ-4 Global Hawk, MQ-1 Predator, MQ-9 Reaper and MC-12.
Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) president Dave Wajsgras said: "This award recognises Raytheon’s strong performance in delivering mission support solutions and significant cost savings.
"We clearly understand the importance and our responsibility to sustain and maintain this critical capability for our armed forces."
DCGS is the primary intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) analysis tool and Raytheon has ensured high levels of performance for these critical ISR systems over the last decade.
Awarded by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, the DCGS contract directly supports the 25th Air Force, which is part of the USAF’s Air Combat Command.
Raytheon IIS Mission Support and Modernization vice-president Todd Probert said: "Raytheon’s product-agnostic approach to sustainment and maintenance led to significant cost savings for the Air Force over the last decade.
"In times of budgetary constraints, Raytheon is especially focused on working with our customers to identify the most efficient solutions while leveraging our deep expertise to provide assured mission performance for the warfighter."
This year, Raytheon IIS has received more than $2.2bn in Air Force mission support contracts so far.
It includes an USAF space launch range contract and a NORAD contract for a variety of operations services.
