Israel’s RADA Electronic Industries has secured an order from a European defence contractor for a multi-mission hemispheric radar (MHR).
The system is scheduled for delivery this year. It will be embedded in a test system by the contractor.
RADA CEO Zvi Alon said: "We are very happy with the selection of our MHR by another major defence contractor in Europe.
"We are confident that the radars ordered during the last few weeks indicate the broad industry recognition of their advantages."
The MHR is an S-Band, software-defined, Pulse-Doppler, active electronically scanned array radar. It features better beam forming capabilities and advanced signal processing.
The system will be able to deliver multiple missions on each radar platform as well as unprecedented performance-to-price ratio.
The MHR will be capable of providing organic, tactical surveillance solutions for force and border protection applications such as counter rockets and mortars, counter unmanned aerial systems, ground moving target indicator, and air surveillance.
Recently, RADA received a contract to produce and supply a tactical air surveillance radar to a leading European defence contractor.
The system, which operates in its RPS-42 aerial surveillance mission, can detect and track multiple aerial targets that are ranging from transport aircraft to multi-copter nano unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).
Moreover, the company secured a contract from an Israeli Defence contractor to upgrade a previously designed UAV avionics unit and to deliver additional production units.
Under this $1.5m deal, deliveries are expected to take place during the next 24 months.
