The Swiss Air Force's F/A-18C fighter jet that crashed near Susten in central Switzerland on 29 August has been found, Swiss defence authorities have confirmed.
The aircraft went down as it was carrying out a training exercise with another jet, killing the pilot.
The crash site was located by the military following search operations that were obstructed by bad weather conditions.
Investigation to identify the cause of the crash is currently underway, according to media sources.
The authorities are currently working on recovering the remains of the damaged aircraft.
The 27-year-old pilot lost contact sometime after the aircraft took off from the Meiringen military airport.
The Swiss air force has a history of fighter jet accidents, losing one of its F/A 18 jets in the last three years.
During the past 20 years, 21 people were killed in 12 accidents involving jets or helicopters from the Swiss air force.
The Swiss air force is aimed at protecting the country's airspace using two armed jets by 2020, swissinfo.ch. reported.
Currently, the air force operates a fleet of 35 F/A-18s, which include 25 single-seater and five double-seater, and 36 F-5-Tiger jets.
