Boeing subsidiary Jeppesen has secured a contract to deliver iPad-based electronic flight bag (EFB) services for about 1,160 Mobility Air Force aircraft of the US Air Force Air Mobility Command.
The company will also service more than 16,000 Air Force users of Apple’s iPad.
The Mobility Air Force aircraft will be fitted with Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro to provide navigation data for military fleet programmes and commercial aviation operators.
Aircraft that will be equipped with Jeppesen’s FliteDeck Pro include the C-5, C-17, C-130, KC-135, KC-10, and other executive and support aircraft.
The software will provide communication information, operational notes, weather conditions and airport runway details to pilots.
Jeppesen’s Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro) secure network will manage all the data. The JDM Pro enterprise solution will be used to deliver flight data, including global civilian and military navigation charts and terminal procedures.
Jeppesen president Thomas Wede said: "Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro will now provide mobile data and flight information for the Mobility Air Force fleet, across Air Mobility Command, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard operations.
"We are pleased to team with the US Air Force to support essential mission-based planning, navigation and operational programs through our iPad-based EFB services."
Jeppesen is part of the digital aviation business unit within Boeing Commercial Aviation Services.
