Flyht Aerospace Solutions has secured a contract modification from an undisclosed Middle Eastern military organisation for the automated flight information reporting system (AFIRS).

Under the contract, the company will provide voice and data services on 23 C-130 Hercules tactical transport aircraft, which are equipped with the AFIRS 228 system.

The contract features an 11-month base performance period, and also includes an option to extend to May 2017.

If both parties meet the contract terms, the gross revenue to the company during the first term is expected to be around $430,000, excluding optional services and the extension.

The C-130 is an exceptional platform for AFIRS, and this expanding fleet is a great showcase for what 21st century connectivity can do for real-time decision-making.

Flyht president Matt Bradley said: "The contract extension is indicative of our strong relationship and the importance of operational control and global air traffic control compliance for the customer.

Equipped with an integrated cockpit audio and intelligent data transmission, the AFIRS 228 system, AFIRS provides timely and direct information about aircraft location and systems, enabling operators to communicate with the crew at all times.

The remotely programmable system will continue to offer features and data services including automated out, off, on and in times, flight following, quick access recorder flight data, communication, navigation, surveillance systems compliance, global voice and EFB-enabled data communications over the Iridium satellite network.

In addition, the customer will be provided with access to new applications as they become available.

The company has supplied AFIRS 228 systems for installation onboard seven C-130 aircraft of a Middle Eastern Air Force under a $250,000 contract signed in May 2013.
