Orbital ATK has secured a contract to deliver contractor logistics support for the common munitions built-in-test reprogramming equipment (CMBRE) system.

The five-year contract is valued at $25m. It was awarded by the Automated Test Systems Division, Agile Combat Support Directorate, at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia.

Under this contract, Orbital ATK will provide technical and logistic support, depot-level repair, engineering services for obsolescence mitigation for the US Air Force (USAF) and foreign military sales (FMS) customers, along with familiarisation training.

Orbital ATK Defense Systems Group Defense Electronic Systems division vice-president and general manager Bill Kasting said: "This contract continues to provide our US Air Force and FMS customers seamless CMBRE support, while ensuring inherently safe uninterrupted munitions testing and reprogramming capability for the warfighter.

"The five-year contract is valued at $25m."

"This past month we delivered our 1,000th CMBRE System, demonstrating our commitment to deliver affordable innovation on schedule and on budget to those who protect our nation and our partners in peace throughout the globe."

The CMBRE System is a munitions tester and reprogrammer, which is capable of verifying munition Built-in-Test status and reprogramming munition operational flight programmes.

In addition, it is designed to upload mission planning and GPS data.

The system is the first munitions support equipment to be developed as a ‘common’ munitions tester, which supports multiple munitions and aircraft, Orbital ATK stated.

While ensuring safe and secure operation for the warfighter, the solution minimises ownership cost as well as logistical foot print, and improve interoperability and the uniformity of test.

The CMBRE system currently supports 17 different weapon systems flown by the USAF, the US Navy, the US Marine Corps and customers in more than 31 countries.
