The US Air Force (USAF) Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Training Systems Product Group has selected Cubic Global Defense (CGD) to compete for the USAF Training System Acquisition (TSA) III contract.

Under this $20.9bn contract, task orders need to be completed over the next ten years.

Cubic will now compete for individual task orders to carry out design, development, production, installation, analysis, integration, test and sustainment services under USAF’s Training Systems Acquisition III program.

"This award is a major opportunity for Cubic Global Defense to demonstrate our worldwide leadership in military training systems and services."

Cubic Global Defense president Bill Toti said: "This award is a major opportunity for Cubic Global Defense to demonstrate our worldwide leadership in military training systems and services, and expand our presence in critical U.S. Air Force training requirements."

The Cubic team for the project will be led by the Cubic Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) location, in collaboration with divisions across CGD’s Centers of Excellence.

Established in 2012, the WPAFB location is aimed to further the company’s competitiveness in the USAF training area, Cubic stated.

Recently, CGD received a series of contracts from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics to manufacture and improve the air combat training system (ACTS) in the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).

Under these contracts, the company will be responsible for incorporating an internally mounted subsystem of the P5 Combat Training System (P5CTS). The new system will allow the F-35 to maintain its stealth characteristics during training sessions.
