BAE Systems has awarded a contract to aerospace products manufacturer Héroux-Devtek for the production of complete landing gear shipsets for the Hawk advanced jet trainer aircraft.

Under the $11m contract terms, Héroux-Devtek will manufacture and assemble complete landing gear replacement shipsets and hydraulic actuators for BAE Systems.

The shipsets are planned to be installed on the fleet of an export Hawk customer as part of its planned aircraft maintenance programme.

"More than 1,000 Hawk jet trainers have been sold to 18 countries across the globe."

With the new replacement shipsets, the customer will be able to extend the service life of the aircraft.

Héroux-Devtek plans to start deliveries of these shipsets in early 2018 through mid-2019.

Héroux-Devtek vice-president and chief operating officer Martin Brassard said: “The Hawk is an important, longstanding programme for Héroux-Devtek’s UK operations.
