Canadian aircraft manufacturer Viking Air has entered the second year of a multi-year contract with the Peruvian Air Force (FAP) for the comprehensive maintenance support of 12 Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft.

The contract awarded under Viking’s Maintenance Plus (M+) programme will involve the 12 aircraft operated by the FAP in the Amazonian region of north-east Peru.

The M+ programme has been designed in collaboration with the FAP as a single contract instrument for providing operators with budget predictability.

It is a streamlined procurement process for continuous flow of factory spares, latest technical publications, on-site technical training and support, as well as all the necessary tools required to monitor future maintenance events.

Viking Air Customer Service and Product Support vice-president Gregory Davis said: “As the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), Viking is continually improving and evolving our customer support offerings to provide the most efficient and advanced services to our customers.

“The M+ programme is an excellent example of Viking’s focus on customer service, and we’re proud to continue providing this comprehensive support to the FAP.”

The FAP uses the Viking programme to maintain spare part stock levels and manage external repair and upgrade vendors with minimal bureaucracy, enabling the airforce to optimise the use of the Twin Otter Series 400 fleet.

Delivered to the FAP between 2011 and 2014, the Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft are configured with land gear and floats.

This helps provide infrastructure support and medevac services to remote communities, and can also be used for military missions such as environmental monitoring and troop transportation in inaccessible regions of Peru.
