Rockwell Collins has been selected to deliver its ARINCDirect services to support flight operations of the Brazilian Air Force (Força Aérea Brasileira).

Awarded by the airforce’s Special Transport Group, the Grupo de Transporte Especial (GTE), the renewed contract involves its fleet of 13 aircraft, which includes an Airbus A319, Embraer ERJ145, E-190, and Legacy 600 aircraft.

Under the terms of the deal, Rockwell Collins will be responsible for providing the Special Transport Group with flight planning services that will enable it to develop and file electronic flight plans anywhere across the globe.

The company will be able to deliver the services while monitoring weather conditions, as well as using aircraft performance data and the latest atmospheric forecasts to attain accurate fuel burns and time calculations.

Rockwell Collins Americas vice-president and managing director Alan Prowse said: “It is critical that these types of flights follow the most efficient routes based on reliable and accurate flight planning to ensure passengers reach their destinations on time.
