The Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) has received the first two Hawk advanced jet trainers from BAE Systems during a ceremony at Masirah Air Base in Oman.

A total of eight Hawk aircraft and 12 Eurofighter Typhoons were ordered by Oman in December 2012.

The RAFO received its first Eurofighter Typhoon fighter aircraft from BAE Systems in June.

Earlier in May, BAE Systems presented new Eurofighter Typhoon and Hawk advanced jet trainer aircraft for RAFO at the company’s Military Air and Information business in the UK.

The Hawk’s advanced airborne simulation includes sensors, weapons, radar, defensive aids, and countermeasures.

Airborne simulation technology facilitates sorties, including realistic air-to-ground scenarios to be programmed into Hawk’s on-board computers prior to take-off or in real-time.

The aircraft’s heads-up display and full-colour multi-functional displays are supported by the latest generation mission computers that can provide display data representative of the latest combat aircraft such as Typhoon and F-35, and the latest navigational aids such as a digital moving map, BAE stated.
