EXPAL Systems has secured a contract from BAE Systems to provide engineering support for the integration of air-launched munitions on Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft.

The integration of various standard weapons within Mk 80 series warheads is being carried out as part of the Phase 3 Enhancements Package B (P3Eb) programme.

BAE Systems UK military air and information business P3Eb contract delivery manager Paul Wilde said: “This integration forms part of the Phase 3 Enhancements Package B, which has been contracted to further evolve Typhoon.

“We’re excited to further increase the capability on Typhoon alongside EXPAL, using their experience in air-launched weapons.”

BAE stated that the Phase 3 Enhancements will introduce a low collateral precision strike air-to-surface to Typhoon.

As part of Phase 2 Enhancements, Storm Shadow air-to-surface deep strike missile and a beyond visual range capability have been integrated into Typhoon.
