The Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (UUAZ) in Eastern Siberia may resume production of Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot strike aircraft if orders come from the Russian Defense Ministry and the United Aircraft Building Corporation.

The United Industrial Corporation Oboronprom CEO Andrei Reus hinted that the plant might begin Su-25 fighter production.

Russia has not confirmed how many Su-25UB / UBM aircraft it will buy under the 2011-20 state rearmament programme.

If the Su-25UBM production begins, they will primarily be used for training Su-25SM pilots of the Russian Air Force, according to RIA Novosti.

The Su-25UBM will be fitted with advanced radio-electronic equipment and high-precision weapons to hit targets in short-range dogfights and targets located at a distance of 20km.
