Artificial intelligence (AI) solutions provider Geospark Analytics has been contracted to develop a mass notification capability for its Hyperion platform.

The capability development will be carried out under the US Air Force’s (USAF) Phase II small business innovation research (SBIR) contract.

The latest contract is the third Phase II SBIR award for Geospark Analytics’ Hyperion platform.

Geospark Analytics CEO Amanda Brownfield said: “The airforce, and all of our users, will now be able to combine our powerful threat and risk AI-engine with the ability to execute mass notifications of both critical events and forecast of stability changes to ensure the safety and security of people and operations.

“We have enjoyed our partnership with the department as a SBIR company that has resulted in significant advancements of military intelligence.”

The machine learning and AI-driven platform, Hyperion, has been designed to deliver real-time insights and automated monitoring, alerting, and forecasting of dangerous events deemed as potential risks. It was launched by Geospark Analytics in 2019.

Integration of the new capability will enable AI-powered ‘mass notification of risk and threat’.

The technology will improve security and situational awareness for the US Department of Defense (DoD) and have ‘dual-purpose applicability for commercial security operations’.

According to Geospark, AFRL and AFWERX partnered to streamline the SBIR process as part of their efforts to widen the pool of potential applicants and ‘decrease bureaucratic overhead’.

Beginning in SBIR 18.2, and currently in 20.R, the USAF started offering ‘Special’ SBIR topics that are faster and open to a wide range of innovations.

Last September, Geospark Analytics received a $95m contract from the USAF for the Phase III commercialisation of the Hyperion platform.
