BlueHalo has secured five contracts from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Vehicles Directorate to support the development of Space Domain solutions.

The cost-plus-fixed-fee contracts, which include orders received through the acquisition of Applied Technology Associates (ATA), are valued more than $130m with a ceiling of over $400m.

The company secured four contracts under the AFRL’s rapid acquisition capability called Space Technology Advanced Research (STAR), while the other one was a Phase III Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) order.

BlueHalo CEO Jonathan Moneymaker said: “These contract awards represent the unparalleled subject matter expertise and technology-driven solutions our employees bring to the Nation’s critical space domain and the deepening partnership with a core AFRL Space Directorate customer.

“Through the success of our team’s efforts, we are developing capabilities that have never existed for our warfighters and extending contract backlog, which will fuel investment for the next generation of capabilities.”

The first three STAR contracts include the Heterogeneous Optical W/V-band Demonstration (HOWD) contract, a Surveillance, Intelligence, and Reconnaissance Enhanced Network (SIREN) contract, as well as a Space Logistics Assembly Disassembly Experiment with Swarms (SLADES) contract.

The last STAR contract, announced earlier this month, is the Survivability, Attribution, and Self-Sensing Integrated Experiment (SASSIE) contract to offer on-board spacecraft self-sensing, attribution and autonomous operations capabilities to support tactical and strategic missions.

The Phase III SBIR award involves enhancing capabilities of space situational awareness, battle management command and control and defensive counter space.

The works will be carried out in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and are slated for completion in 2026.

Notably, BlueHalo was formed earlier this year by merging AEgis Technologies, Excivity, EMRC Heli and Brilligent Solutions into a single entity. ATA is also a part of the BlueHalo company.
