The US Air Force (USAF) has approved simulator certification (SIMCERT) for Quantum3D and CymSTAR's Boom Operator Weapons System Trainer (BOWST) air refuelling simulator.
The first KC-135R BOWST aerial refuelling simulator incorporates an Independence IDX 6000 image generator with five channels, GeoScapeSE worldwide database, and advanced weather and ocean plug-ins.
The system will enhance aircraft lighting, advanced shadows, spotlights and refuelling receptacles to provide realistic cues to support boom operators' depth perception requirements.
CymSTAR will supply a total of nine systems to USAF; the first one is already in use at McConnell Air Force Base, US.
