Sukhoi has conducted a test flight of the third prototype of the fifth-generation T-50 fighter aircraft, built under the PAK FA Future Tactical Fighter programme.

The test, conducted at KnAAPO aircraft plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Russia, validated the stability of the aircraft and the performance and reliability of the power plant system.

The third prototype aircraft is equipped with new avionics and active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar.

The test flight follows the maiden sorties of the first and second prototypes in January and February last year.

The PAK FA will replace the Russian Air Force’s MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters and is expected to enter operational service in 2015.
