Elbit Systems has received two contracts from Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems to supply airborne laser designators.

Valued at around $35m, the contracts require Elbit to supply the laser designators over a three-year period.

Rafael will, in turn, deliver these systems to two Asia-Pacific countries.

"The awarded contracts reaffirm Elbit Systems' commitment to the Asia-Pacific market and to its investments in local industries."

Elbit Systems ISTAR Division general manager Elad Aharonson said: "Elbit Systems has years of experience in developing advanced electro optic systems including highly accurate and powerful laser designators in particular.

“The awarded contracts reaffirm Elbit Systems' commitment to the Asia-Pacific market and to its investments in local industries.”

Elbit said that its designators focus on optimising size, weight and power (SWaP), therefore providing the optimal solution for ground and airborne systems alike.
