India has developed its first laser-guided bomb (LGB) to improve the accuracy of air-to-ground bombing by the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The LGB uses a laser designator to mark a target, detects reflected laser light from the target by its seeker and sends signals to the weapon’s control surfaces to guide it towards the designated point.

Aeronautics Development Establishment (ADE) in Bangalore has developed the guidance-kit for the 1,000lb LGBs, according to the Economic Times.
The guidance kit of the LGB consists of a computer control group (CCG), guidance canards attached to the front of the warhead and a wing assembly attached to the aft end to provide lift.
LGBs are manoeuvrable and free-fall weapons that require no electronic interconnect to the aircraft.
